What is counseling?

Counseling is a therapeutic process that can assist people with self-discovering more effective ways to deal with situations in their lives.  The individual develops a professional relationship with the therapist to address issues such as anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relational problems, difficulty with self-worth, and issues related to mental and emotional health. The therapeutic relationship and safe environment will help people feel more comfortable with themselves, others, and continue to develop coping skills to manage life stressors.

Who benefits from counseling?

People of any age can benefit and grow from the therapeutic experience.  Counseling provides a new way to learn about oneself.  Understanding your feelings, triggers, and relationships can assist you in feeling “unstuck” in your life.  Therapy will initiate self-awareness and insight that you may have never experienced before.  You are capable of feeling stronger with your inner self, which in return will improve health and well being.

What can I expect?

For therapy to feel rewarding and successful, individuals will need to be honest and open in their sessions.  Attending therapy sessions on time and actively participating will allow the therapist to help the individual reach their goals.  Your commitment to change is key and will assist in the positive direction of change.
